Minecraft Modding:
We offer the IMMERSE ́s Minecraft Modding course because we want to teach coding in a fun and creative way. Minecraft is a very popular and award winning on-line video-game in which players can either build up and explore 3D worlds without any limitations. The word ‘modding’ actually derives from the word ‘modify’, which means to ‘make partial or minor changes to something.
Students will be able to mod every aspect of Minecraft’s world by learning coding. Currently there are several projects to further encourage students to learn coding through Minecraft and even the British government has officially considered introducing it into school curriculums, not only to teach coding to students but also to teach a wide variety of subjects, as well as conduct homeschooling.
Minecraft was first developed and released by the Swedish company Mojang in 2011 and, due to its outstanding success, was purchased in 2014 by Microsoft, who have since continued to maintain and further expand it. Minecraft has sold more than 180 million copies worldwide and has more than 112 million monthly users.
mBot:
mBot is a fun robot, designed to be programmed through a kids-friendly coding platform by STEM Education. In this course, students will experience graphical programming, electronics and robotics by building their own robots from scratch! mBot is from the Arduino family. It is an easy to use robotics hardware and software open-source platform used by artists, designers, hobbyists, interactives, object creators and environment developers.
mBot was designed by robotic experts in Makeblock. The company successfully crowdfunded this project in 2015, and since then, the robot has been easily accessible to the general public. It has also expanded into an mBot robotic family, with a range of robots targeting different ages and learning stages.
