Eric
Eric is a highly qualified and experienced Mandarin teacher and translator, who specialises in teaching young learners and adults.
He holds a PGDE Major in Chinese and Putonghua from the Education University of Hong Kong, an MA in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong and a MA in Translation from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In addition he also holds a BA in English.
Eric has been teaching in Hong Kong since 2011 at two reputable Mandarin language centres. His focus has been designing course syllabuses, conducting corporate Mandarin training at companies, teaching adults and secondary students. Therefore he is also familiar with the different school curriculums in Hong Kong, such as IB, A-Levels, GCSE, SAT and DSE. His classes cover all language competences: reading, listening, writing and speaking.
Recently he has also worked as Chinese and Putonghua teacher in a local primary school, where he also went under training to obtain an IB PYP Certificate in Teaching and Learning from the Western University. Therefore, Eric is also comfortable teaching primary students from both local and international schools.
All the above experience allowed Eric´s students to achieve optimal results in different Mandarin diplomas and certifications, such as HSK, GAPSK and KPCC.
In addition, Eric has also experience as a High School´s English teacher in Guangzhou, China, in which he also participated in composing the English school-based curriculum.
As a translator, Eric has been delivering high quality translations since 2010 from both English to Chinese and vice versa for companies, such as Tencent 或 South China Morning Post.
Lastly, Eric has participated in a couple publications: Immersive teaching methodology for teaching Chinese as a foreign Language (2018) and The application of song lyrics in teaching Chinese as a foreign language (2019).
Therefore Eric is an experienced, dedicated and passionate Mandarin instructor whose driving goal is to take his students to the next level.
